Hello! My name is Tammy Meyer, and I am the proud owner of The Child Centered Home,

a nature- and play-based preschool program located in Temecula, CA. My program is

licensed as a family child care program through the State of California, and since 2017,

it has been certified as a Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

My journey in early childhood education began over 30 years ago at California State

University, Long Beach, where I discovered the Child Development and Family Studies

program. From my very first class, I was captivated—I read my textbooks cover to

cover and knew I had found my calling. In 1997, I earned my B.A. in Child Development

and Family Studies and became a lifetime member of the National Association for the

Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

After graduation, I began my career as a substitute teacher for Bright Horizons Family Solutions, working with children from infancy through kindergarten. Over the years, I held nearly every role in the field—from teacher to program director—gaining deep experience in both classroom instruction and leadership. I also discovered a passion for teaching adults, which led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of teaching college-level courses at Cal State Long Beach Extension and Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC).

In 2010, I took the leap to open my own Family Child Care program, blending my education, professional experience, and passion into a nurturing environment where children can thrive. Opening The Child Centered Home allowed me to work closely with families, support children’s development, and be present for my own children.

My dedication to nature-based learning has shaped my program in meaningful ways. Becoming a Nature Explore Certified Outdoor Classroom in 2017 was a milestone, and I’ve continued to cultivate a thriving outdoor environment ever since. In 2023, I became a California Early Childhood Mentor Teacher for MSJC, and in 2024, I deepened my commitment to connecting children with nature by earning certification from the National Wildlife Federation.

I am excited about this next chapter in my career and remain committed to growing, learning, and fostering meaningful partnerships with families. At The Child Centered Home, I believe in celebrating children’s natural curiosity, creativity, and joy—and I would be honored to walk alongside you and your child on this journey of discovery.
